When should I use Medi-Koi?

Feed Medi-Koi if you notice redness in the skin of fish, mouth rot, fin rot, or body sores. Feed the Medi-Koi for 14 days or more. No modification of the diet is needed, there is already an attractant in the food. Deposit the food in front of the affected fish. Sick fish are more likely to eat a food which is on the bottom, right in front of them.

Can Medi-Koi hurt my fish?

Medi-Koi cannot hurt your fish. None of the medications represent any health hazard, even if fed for a long time. However, using the medicated food for more than the required amount of time might result in its failure due to resistance developed by pathogens.

How long should I feed Medi-Koi?

Feed for at least 14 days and then discontinue, unless there are still sick fish.

Is Medi-Koi just for koi?

Medi-Koi is meant for koi & pond fish only. This product should not be used in food fish production or fish used for human consumption.

Will Medi-Koi hurt my filter?

Medi-Koi will not hurt your filter. There is not enough antibiotic in it to achieve sufficient levels in the water to kill bacteria of any kind. Its only success is determined when digested by the fish where it will achieve sufficient levels in the bloodstream & tissues to kill pathogenic bacteria. In other words, it works in the fish, not in the environment.

Should I feed other food at the same time?

No. Your fish should have nothing but Medi-Koi during the treatment phase. Other foods will reduce the amount of medicine your fish will ingest.

At what temperature should I feed this medicated diet?

Medi-Koi is rich in protein, including shrimp & fish meal. It should not be offered to fish with temperatures averaging under 59º F. If a fish is suffering a bacterial infection in colder water, place the fish in quarantine & gradually warm the water to at least 59º F & feed Medi-Koi.
